After the huge success of her tour with the majority of her shows sold out , and due to the large demand of her fans, Irish singer Imelda May has announced three more dates in the UK.
A successful new album
On the 7th of April , the singer released her fifth studio album “Life Love Flesh Blood” which is surprisingly different from her previous works. This time, soft rock and acoustic styles take over her traditionnal rockabilly style. The general tone is more melancholic and soulful. It is said that her recent divorce from her husband, guitarist Darrel Higham, has influenced the theme and the tone of this album. About the name of the album, Imelda May explained in an interview with the Irish magazine VIP :
“There are some heartbreak songs on there but then I fell in love again, and had my heart broken again, I was up and down so I write about love and lust and guilt and joy and my family and my child and getting older or getting younger mentally. I wrote about everything, which is why I called the album Life Love Flesh Blood“
Her song “Should’ve been you” , released a few months before the album was acclaimed by critics and fans as it announced the promising new opus. Imelda May explained during an interview that the music video for this song was inspired by the Women’s March on Washington that took place last January in order to protest against the elected president Donal Trump and his sexist campaign declarations but also as a way to claim and protect women’s rights.
Due to the huge demand of her fans, the singer announced that she will be performing three more times in the UK, in Hull on the 19th of Novembre, Leicester on the 20th of November and in London on the 22nd. Can’t wait to see your favorite Irish singer on stage ?
